Animals provide therapy for anyone with any illness, but especially Alzheimers patients.   Cats, dogs, and even exotic animals help patients with “memory loss” by bringing them back to the present.  More, trained pups can help alert others that an Alzheimer’s patient has wandered into harm’s way. “Pets can provide a measure of safety to people with the disease,” says Thomas Kirk, a vice president of a chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.  In addition to offering safety they give companionship and relieve depression, which is a criticalpart of the disease.  I have included a video I found moving.  This patient is in the advance stages of the disease.
